Social media:
NEEDS TO BE SOCIAL!
Much of where I have gained traction for my business has been through social media, not though necessarily the usual marketing means.
How?
Firstly, I’ve been SOCIAL on my social media.
I like being social in the real world and I am always interested in people, so I like to get to know other people using social media – and I have done this in a genuine way.
I have created business relationships and developed friendships, asked people questions and remained open to what practitioners and the general public have to say.
What many I’ve observed have done – is that if they’re using social media for business and they expect results straight away.
My results have often been a slow burn and it’s often been meandering, though I’ve learned a great deal through this and made lots of new contacts along the way.
I’ve been able to establish my brand, niches – yes I have niches – over time.
Why do I have niches – not just one niche?
Because none of us just fit into one box. Instead, I have areas of strength.
I have developed multiple skills over the years and don’t like fitting in just one box.
We don’t have to believe all the hype from each and every social media marketer out there.
One big piece of advice I would give to anyone wanting to start their service-based business, or private practice, is don’t expect miracles overnight – unless you have a fair amount of money behind you.
Did you have a career before you worked in therapy,
or your wellness business?
If so, how can you utilise those skills and incorporate that work experience into your point of difference? For me – I have computer skills and media skills from a previous career.
For me; working in the past in the media and entertainment business, before being a therapist seems to not add up to practitioners at all – though that is a strength and it has strangely prepared me for the social media landscape that is business now.
Here’s a few tips below, for working online as a therapist, or if you’re looking to find any online therapy for yourself:
Research
research on
therapeutic outcomes
can be applied to online therapy.
Online therapy
outcomes are just as important
as in-person therapy outcomes.
You need to ‘feel’ like you’re going to a therapist and all that should change is the method of delivery and the space.
Good online therapists know ‘how to hold the online space’, not just the physical space.
Finding your right therapist
or a practitioner,
I encourage clients and practitioners alike, to do their research.
Some important questions for you:
Did you just find a therapist on Facebook?
Can the practitioner provide you with evidence of their online therapy experience or approach?
Working Online
online therapist
is registered to work online ,
is trained to work online and can back up how and why they work the way they do.
They need to have a specific onboarding / assessment process and be clinically supervised online specifically for their online therapeutic work.
Can your therapist provide proof of the above for you?
What next?
If you’d like to know more,
and you’re a therapist, consider signing up to one of my courses.
I have trained in online therapy and train others as well.
In addition,
I work internationally
and I’m registered to work internationally.
